Health and Safety Policy
Uttoxeter Road Runners’ aim is to promote running as a safe and inclusive activity for all members to enjoy. Wherever possible, the Club shall act in a way that is reasonably practical to ensure the health and safety of its members.
1. Each club run will be led by a LiRF trained club member. As part of the preparation for the run, the leader will do a risk assessment. On the run, the leader will do a dynamic risk assessment.
2. Notwithstanding the leader’s risk assessment, you are responsible for your own health and safety.
3. If you are new to the club, make yourself known to the run leader and tell them of any injuries or health concerns which could impact your running.
4. If you do need to leave a club run for any reason, please inform the run leader.
5. If you are injured, do not run. If you are coming back from an injury, it is your responsibility to inform the run leader.
6. Hi-vis clothing MUST BE WORN during all road runs over the winter period.
7. Always look while crossing the road. Do not rely on the runner in front to indicate whether the road is clear. This is your responsibility.
8. If there is no pavement, run towards oncoming traffic to maximise visibility.
9. Bring any safety issues with a committee member immediately. Committee members are listed on the website or email the chairman at chair@uttoxeterroadrunners.club.
10. Runs organised by individual members are not subject to these rules and guidance but participants are advised to adhere to these rules.
The Club duly adopted this Policy on 1st May 2024.
