Festival of Running 2023 – Uttoxeter Road Runners

UTTOXETER FESTIVAL OF RUNNING 2023

2023’s Festival of Running took place on Sunday 30 April, at Uttoxeter Racecourse, with 342 runners taking part!

Warm-up

The festivities started off with a warm-up courtesy of PureGym Uttoxeter.

The Half Marathon had a field of 220 runners taking on one of the hilliest courses in the UK. The 10k, which seems to grow every year, attracted 88 runners. The ever-popular Junior 2k race had 34 runners ranging in age from 4 to 13.

World Record Attempt

A special mention must be made to Mitch Stafford who completed the course in full firefighters kit in a time under 2:05:00 and is waiting confirmation of a world record.

£1,000 raised for charity

Thanks to the profits generated from the event, we donated £1,000 to local groups: £500 to the Scouts and £500 for Yess charity. This was the first time that we have supported Uttoxeter-based mental health and wellbeing charity, YESS. This charity was chosen by our members and the donation is equivalent to providing 15 sessions to someone struggling with their mental health.
